At Bodega Castillo de Monjardín, ‘terroir‘ has paramount importance, as our land defines the personality and quality of our wines. Our unique microclimate and the altitude at which we are located make our wines unique.
All our wines are made with grapes from our family vineyards, controlled fermentations, and aged in oak barrels.
Based on tradition, we have always been characterized by innovating and developing new winemaking techniques with the aim of improving the quality of our vineyards and wines.
Tierra Estella is a region in Navarre with a strong winemaking tradition. The Romans already chose it as an ideal place for growing grapes. Additionally, it has constantly evolved with the numerous pilgrims of the Camino de Santiago who have passed through our lands and villages.
Perhaps because of this, our family has always been connected to the world of wine. Víctor del Villar Tolosa and his wife Sonia Olano de la Lama decided to continue the family tradition, founding Bodega Castillo de Monjardín in 1988.
At Bodega Castillo de Monjardín, we believe in the transformative power of collaboration and social responsibility. That’s why we are actively committed to various initiatives.
We are part of the “WINE IN MODERATION” movement, committing ourselves to the promotion of moderate and responsible wine consumption.
Furthermore, we support the principles of the United Nations Global Compact, guiding our conduct towards ethical standards concerning human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption.
Sustainability is one of the fundamental pillars of our philosophy. Our love for our land “obliges us” to develop sustainable practices that help care for and protect our environment.
We practice sustainable agriculture to the greatest extent possible, managing nearly 500 hectares of family-owned vineyards, olive groves, and cereal crops, which we cultivate for many years to provide high-quality and as ecological as possible fruits.
Our team
To carry out all the work behind a glass of wine, we have a great team of professionals. From planting a vine to making a great wine, the process takes several years of many details and great dedication, care, and know-how.
More than 30 wine enthusiasts currently make up the team at Bodega Castillo de Monjardín. A large family that includes everyone from those who work at the vineyards to those who work in the winery, as well as customer service, visits and restaurant.
